Paradise Valley Community College is unveiling the first phase of a major renovation project in time for the start of the Fall 2012 semester. The Kranitz Student Center’s new modern design creates an open and interactive space that welcomes students to the college experience.

Many student services offices have been relocated, but students can be assured they will get the help they need to succeed in college. Student Life, Student Development, Recruitment, Disability Resources and Counseling now have new permanent, beautifully designed spaces in the KSC.

The Admissions and Records, Advising, Financial Aid, Fiscal Office, Human Resources and the Puma Press will move upstairs for the 2012-2013 academic year as construction begins on the project’s second phase. The Marketing Office remains in K114 and Testing stays in K109 throughout construction and will return to the KSC upon completion. Public Safety, the Puma Café, the Bookstore and the Copy Center have remained in their respective locations, but the campus Information Desk is now located in the center of KSC’s first floor.

As part of the exterior renovation, the main entrance to the KSC has been temporarily relocated to the south side of the building. The covered walkway between the KSC and A buildings has been removed in the initial stage of creating a more open, welcoming entrance to the campus. The roundabout driveway also has been removed and now serves as construction staging area.

On Sept. 10, the North Entrance to KSC will be closed to build an additional 11,500 square feet, which includes a 4,000 square-foot community room. This area has been architecturally designed to create a  “front door” to the campus for a more visible identity in the community. During construction, a walkway along the east wall of A building will be opened for students to access the campus from the north parking lot.

The project is scheduled for completion in August 2013.
