The PVCC Men’s Soccer team posted a disappointing 1-0 loss against Arizona Western on Sept. 4, following its 2-1 win against Scottsdale Community College and are now 2-2. The Pumas’ next game is against Glendale Community College at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.
The Puma men previously lost a nailbiter in their match against Mesa Community College, despite shooting 6 shots on goal to MCC’s 5. They struggled to score in the first half and were stunned by a goal scored in the opening minutes of the game.
The Pumas have a young squad this season with only nine returning players under coaching staff Boris Teoharevic, Jonathan Sang, Milos Tomic and Adam Chrestman. “Mo” Aguirre is the team’s young goalkeeper and forward Vlad Kalinteev, who hails from Liperzk, Russia, is the new offensive weapon.
The Pumas started the 2012 season with a 5-0 win over the South Mountain Cougars with three players finding the back of the net and four awarded penalty kicks.
