Pan’s Labyrinth is the story of a young girl who travels with her pregnant mother to live with her mother’s new soldier husband in rural northern Spain, 1944. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much pain. Fascist repression during the first years of Franco’s dictatorship is at its height in rural Spain, and the girl must come to terms with that through a frightening fantasy of her own.
First Saturday Concert Series
Bad Reputation: A Musical Tribute to Women That Rock!
6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6
CPA Outdoor Amphitheater
Audience members are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for lawn seating.
This free concert features some of the most memorable and beloved female-fronted rock songs from the 1960s through 2012. A 9-piece professional band fronted by four dynamic vocalists will perform works by artists such as Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt, Grace Slick, Joan Jett, Heart, Pat Benetar, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, The Eurythmics, No Doubt, Paramore, Amy Winehouse, Grace Potter and more.
A food truck from the local non-profit, Kitchen on the Streets, will sell concessions. Food truck proceeds fund Kitchen on the Street’s Bags of Hope program, which provides backpacks of non-perishable, pre-packaged meals for local children who otherwise would go hungry on the weekends.
