PV Men’s Soccer eliminated from playoffs with tie-breaking penalty kicks

In their first playoff berth in three years, the Paradise Valley Community College Men’s Soccer team played an aggressive match against Chandler-Gilbert Community College in the NJCAA Region 1 playoffs on Oct. 23. The game was tied 1-1 after two halves and two overtime periods, sending the game to penalty kicks. The match ended with the Pumas on the short end of a 4-3 tally to eliminate them from the playoffs with a final record of 9-11-1.

David Barragan tallied PVCC’s goal, the first of the game, eight minutes into the 2nd half. Chandler/Gilbert tied it on a penalty kick with 21 minutes remaining in the 2nd half.”The PVCC Men’s Soccer team played exceptionally well last night at Chandler/Gilbert. The effort, competitive spirit and character displayed by our guys and team were exemplary,”said PVCC Athletic Director Greg Silcox.

The PVCC Women’s Soccer team host Phoenix College today in their first playoff action of the season. Game time is 3 p.m. at Shoenhair Field. The Athletics Booster fund will cover the $5 admission charge for any PV faculty, staff or students that come out to support our #2 nationally ranked women’s soccer team.
